Our Patron

We are proud to have Professor Rufus Black, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Tasmania, as our Patron.

Rufus brings a wealth of experience across education, government and the private sector. He is a respected leader, thinker and advocate for improving outcomes in education and the community.

Importantly, Rufus also has dyslexia. His lived experience gives him a deep understanding of the challenges many children and families face, as well as the strengths and potential that can come with thinking differently.

As Patron, Rufus plays an important role in supporting our work and helping raise awareness of dyslexia across Tasmania and beyond. His voice strengthens our advocacy and helps highlight the importance of early support, effective teaching and inclusive education.

Rufus shares our belief that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. His involvement reflects a shared commitment to building a future where children with dyslexia are recognised, supported and able to thrive.
